How To Do Festivals Sustainably

Festival season is just around the corner so we've compiled this handy guide to conquer them sustainably.

1. Tents are for life
First things first: sleeping arrangements. Over the past couple of years, organizers (and mother earth) have had to deal with an increasing amount of tents left behind by festival goers. Last year at Glastonbury alone, staff had to clean up 5000 tents, 6500 sleeping bags, 3500 airbeds and 950 rolled mats. In fact, it is estimated that in the UK, 1 in 4 tents are abandoned after a single use. Instead of getting a cheap tent that will give up on you at the first sign of bad weather, we recommend this gorgeous, durable bell-tent made from 100% natural cotton canvas which will biodegrade naturally once gone to the landfill. And if you’re absolutely too shattered from the weekend to muster up the strength to take your tent back home with you, you could give these biodegradable tents a try by Comp-A-Tent. They look super cute and compost within 120 days.
2. Plastic, Plastic Everywhere
Ah, single-use plastic – the villain we love to hate yet somehow can’t get away from. Whilst the UK is potentially looking at banning single-use plastic in the future, for now it’s still our job to make sure we avoid it as much as possible. Obviously, you’re already bringing your reusable cup – we love this one made from hand blown glass with a bamboo lid. But why not take it one step further and bring your own plates as well? These ones are made from biodegradable bamboo and will go nicely with your new biodegradable tent. And if you miss straws, grab these shiny metal ones.

 3. Make It Fashion, Ethically
Obviously, we can’t end this post without mentioning festival style. It’s the one place where everything goes and retailers around the world are just about to start pushing those wear-it-once pieces bound to disappear in your closet by the time the next season rolls out. If you’ve been around our page before, you already know our purpose is to stop the trend towards fast fashion. To try and fight this trend, we’re giving you 15% off our festival style collection. Say goodbye culturally-insensitive-tribal-wear, and hello organic denim, handprinted maxi dresses and everything in between.
